Freedom Of The Press For Everyone? No! Says Senators
This is simply outrageous! Basically Feinstein is insisting that only journalists who work for major corporations will be granted free press protections guaranteed to all US citizens by the Constitution. This is yet another example of how our representatives are doing everything they can to destroy the Constitution! This would effectively prevent the expression of dissenting points of view. It's called the "Free Flow of Information Act." That's like something out of 1984. It's called exactly the opposite of what it is as a way of fooling people into thinking that it's a good thing!

:wtf:
This effectively would make it impossible to expose the wrongdoings of corporate America. Isn't Feinstein supposed to be a progressive democrat? If the liberals are in favor of suppressing free speech, then the conservatives must be in favor of executing anyone who dares to criticize the government or the corporations that they work for. This fits nicely with one of the three main principles of fascism:
"Nothing against the state". Any type of questioning the government is not to be tolerated. If you do not see things our way, you are wrong. If you do not agree with the government, you cannot be allowed to live and taint the minds of the rest of the good citizens.

If only journalists who are employed by media corporations have journalistic privileges, then, for all intents and purposes, no one is allowed to criticize the powers that be and the government can incarcerate dissidents who dare to speak against government policies. This is a very dangerous and truly anti-American law that Feinstein is promoting. She is a traitor in the truest sense of the word. She should be unceremoniously kicked the hell out of office!

Criminizalizing journalism? :curse:
A corrupt senator attempting to criminalize basic journalism. Can't we just kick these idiots out of office? Whether their inept fools or petty tyrants, they don't deserve to be in office!

Mapping The Trayvon Martin Media Controversy
Before you get all bent out of shape regarding the Zimmerman/Martin case, you should know that this article is NOT about that. Instead the focus is on how the news story propagated through the media and became a focus of attention throughout the country. This is a case study attempting to explicate how the news media works and what factors influence which stories become big news and which stories wind up being largely ignored. Although the topic of the thread is "War On Journalism" this article takes a look at what exactly journalism in its current state actually is. Professional journalists no longer dominate since now we have bloggers and other sources which are not directly controlled by major corporate entities. Thus control of the media by corporations has diminished which probably explains why there is a "war" on journalism. It's about regaining control.
Finally, this study demonstrates the complexity of contemporary media ecosystems and the need for tools, techniques, and data sources that allow us to empirically study the spread of ideas between media, examining influences of participatory media on professional media and vice versa. Work like Memetracker’s ability to analyze quote propagation and manipulation across news media...

The war on journalism is more covert here in the USA, but in other countries it's out in the open...

President Trump's last laugh
There might be a war on journalism, but that doesn't mean that journalists can't get together once a year for a good laugh!

Morning Joe Michael Wolff Cold Open - SNL
SNL spent a year producing lame, one-sided skits attacking Trump and making mindless allegations regarding collusion with Russia. It was a year without any truly funny material produced by SNL. Apparently the cast and writers for the show were so butt-hurt over Hillary's humiliating loss to Trump, that they just couldn't focus on writing funny material. Instead they self-righteously used their platform to create cheap attacks against Trump. Finally, it appears that they've got over themselves and are ready to move on and actually produce funny material again.

There are now fact checkers, checking fact checkers, checking news… but will it help?
Liberal bias? Corporate bias? Who knows? All I know is that I don't trust any source completely and some much less than others.
