This plant has actually naturalized in parts of California. It's native to Europe, but it does well in a number of localities, possibly too well since it is considered to be an invasive plant.

The scientific name is Hyoscyamus niger. It's not aggressively invasive, but it gets around.

Mint might be invasive, but in some situations a tenacious plant is a good plant and so I'll plant whatever will survive providing that it is an attractive plant.
