That would put it very close to Olancha and 395. If the highway was damaged, that would be a major issue for a lot of people. Any stuff knocked off the shelf at WalMart? Any power outages?

Initially the USGS reported it as a 6.0, but then they changed their minds and said it was a 5.8. None of the reports I saw said there was any damage to roadways or businesses. There must have been things fall off of shelves in Lone Pine and Olancha, but it doesn't sound like anything worse than that happened. At least at this point I haven't heard any such reports.

Eastern Sierra Earthquake Sent Massive Boulders Crashing Onto Mount Whitney Hiking Trails
Not sure how long access will be closed for, but as of today it was closed.
"Aerial reconnaissance, as well as reports from hikers identified several additional slides,” the sheriff department said. “One directly above Lone Pine Lake, one about a quarter of a mile above Long Pine Lake near the main trail and there were three slides on Mt. Whitney… It is unclear if the Mt. Whitney Trail has been damaged. Inyo County deputies did evacuate the popular Whitney Portal campground after the quake. Deputies also posted on social media that Horseshoe Meadows Road was closed due to rocks and debris.

Powerful Alaska earthquake triggered tsunami warning
What I heard is that the quake was upgrades to 7.6 and that there were no tsunamis, just a tsunami warning.

What Happens If Yellowstone Blows Up Tomorrow?
Sooner or later there's a catastrophic event that's going to happen in Yellowstone, but not likely within the lifetime of anyone alive today.

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit Bodfish this morning up there near Lake Isabella. That's not exactly what ya'd call a severe quake, but considering they're dealing with a major fire up there I'm sure it rattled the nerves of a bunch of people.

An earthquake and a wildfire at the same time? I think they call that SHAKE and BAKE!
(All joking aside, condolences to anyone who has suffered as the result of these events.)

3.9 Earthquake Olancha, California 10-17-21
The USGS listed it as 4.0 and it happened at 6:19 this morning. The map shows it as being very close to the NW corner of the China Lake navy base.

Small earthquake shakes community of Trona
I slept right through it. Of course, it was just a 4.3 magnitude quake and so it wasn't anything severe.
