So far I haven't heard of anyone actually receiving a ticket or fine for driving Wildrose Road, but technically driving through a road closed sign is an infraction that could result in the issuance of some kind of citation. At this point it would seem that giving someone a ticket would be unreasonable since the county should have fixed the road a long, long, long time ago. It seems the county has failed to live up to its responsibility and should put a proceed at your own risk sign up instead of a road closed sign.

What I've heard is that this most recent rain on Sunday and Monday caused some flooding, but nothing extensive in terms of damage. Has anyone come across or heard about any roads that are still closed? A lot of people are likely to be visiting the area in upcoming weeks and I know of a few myself who hope to visit some places pretty far off the beaten path and so I'm hoping for their sake that the local roads are open and in good shape.

I haven't got out and checked myself, but from what I've heard there wasn't much damage caused by the last storm. All roads that were open are supposed to still be open as of last weekend according to my source. There are some rough spots that didn't exist before, but nothing that a well-equipped 4x4 can't handle.

178 closed at mouth of canyon This appears to be at the Bakersfield end of route 178, but it's still 178 and so it's locally relevant at least to some extent.

I've heard from a number of sources that the switchbacks up to South Park Canyon in the Panamints are in really bad shape. Reports are that in a couple places the road is extremely narrow with a likely tumble down a steep slope should a tire slip off the road. Sounds pretty dicey to me, but you know how reports can get exaggerated. But if you're headed that way make sure you bring a shovel and are ready to stack rocks and that sort of thing. Good luck!
