Rattlesnake reports rising with temperatures
Not only do people get bit by rattlesnakes, but so do pets. In fact, my guess is that people are better at avoiding snakebites than are pets.

A friend told me about a friend of hers who lives in California City who was surprised by a rattlesnake in her own backyard a few days ago. She took a broom and shooed it out of her yard and watched it crawl off into some bushes between her house and a neighbors house. Later the neighbor was able to capture the snake and he dropped it off a few miles out in the desert.

ergot: It's much more humane to catch the snake and release it out in the desert than to kill it like many people do. Most people get nervous around snakes and so it stands to reason that they just kill them rather than doing the right thing. Fear does that to people.

Boy uses soccer skills to avoid rattlesnake bite
From the looks of things this was a residential area. It's surprising that a snake would just show up out of the blue!

Boy bit by rattlesnake at Hart Park
Small children are most vulnerable when confronted by a poisonous snake.

Ex-NHL Star Uses Golf Clubs to Capture Rattlesnake
There's no shortage of rattlers and so capture and release seems a little crazy to my way of thinking. For me a shovel works just fine. Thwack the darn thing over the noggin, cut off its head, and be gone with the venomous viper! That's how I get the job done!
