CrustyOldFart: So, I did a little fact-checking on your claims and you are correct according to weather dot com, but if we go by a couple other weather sites, then there were a couple days just a degree or two below 100F during August and the beginning of September that were listed as below 100F. It all depends on who you listen to. I think the shortest consecutive run of days hitting 100F or more was 67 going by weather underground data.

KCSO: Crews still searching for 11-year-old girl who went missing in the Kern River
Every year a few people die in the Kern River. This year it looks like it'll be more than a few.
