Malware targeting energy grids found on Dark Web :roll2:
Most likely said malware was OUTDATED, but putting OUTDATED in the headline would have decreased the sense of urgency and so that part was left out. But that's not to say that hackers wouldn't be able to learn something from the source code for the malware, assuming that the source code was available.

It’s About To Get Even Easier to Hide on the Dark Web
Here's a fun little read...
The next generation of hidden services will use a clever method to protect the secrecy of those addresses. Instead of declaring their .onion address to hidden service directories, they’ll instead derive a unique cryptographic key from that address, and give that key to Tor’s hidden service directories. Any Tor user looking for a certain hidden service can perform that same derivation to check the key and route themselves to the correct darknet site. But the hidden service directory can’t derive the .onion address from the key, preventing snoops from discovering any secret darknet address.

The arms race between those using services such as Tor and law enforcement is interesting to watch. Any new tech which provides anonymity online is eventually defeated. There are a lot of mistakes that can be made and the FBI is always putting out another honey pot to catch careless Tor users. Anyone who thinks simply using Tor is enough is either fooling himself or is a law-abiding citizen just out exploring the deep dark web and should be very careful to avoid illegal content!

What is the Dark Web?
Always changing. If I were going to experiment, I'd use an old computer just in case something happened...

Internet's largest 'dark market' is shut down
One "dark market" shut down, but in a few days another will replace it or an existing one will grow to fill the void. Supply and demand.

Sex, Drugs And Money: How The Dark Web Turned A Suburb Home Into An International Crime Hub
The Dark Web isn't really the problem. In fact, the ability to communicate anonymously is a good thing and a network which is below the radar of general public scrutiny is also a very positive thing. People commit crimes all the time. Some are blatant enough to do so while taking very little effort to hide their deeds. And so, the main difference between those who use covert means to commit a crime and those who more or less "do it in the middle of the road" is simply a matter of intelligence.

Not so private: Tor funded by US govt study reveals
So, is the dark web just a big honey pot or is anonymity on the dark web for real? Depends who you ask. Some say if you properly secure and configure your Tor software that you are safe. Others say that the NSA, CIA, and FBI monitor activity and ignore the small fish in order to catch the big fish. No one knows for sure, probably not even those who are quite certain that they know for sure.

Marianas Web - The Scariest Part Of The Internet
Fact or fiction? The info here is way too sketchy to consider this anything more than an elaborate rumor, but who knows?
