Prison Technology

Welcome to the High-Tech Jail of the 21st Century
The topic here is prison technology and I'd like to keep the focus reasonably close to the actual topic. What I'd like to explore in this thread are ways that robotics and management systems can be used to make prisons safer and more efficient. It seems that many companies have hopped onto the private prison bandwagon in order to gouge the system and I'm not interested in that topic. What I wish to discuss are ways to improve the prison experience through the use of technology. How can we make it more cost effective and safer, while hopefully rehabilitating incarcerated individuals?
