Here's a great list of desert peaks for those interested in climbing local and not so local peaks throughout the desert southwest.

Travel with REI: Tour du Mont Blanc
For younger people with sufficient funds, this would be an enjoyable, but safe, adventure! The thirteen day itinerary has a price tag of about $5500 not including airfare.

wildrose: $5500 plus airfare and any other miscellaneous expenses that might be hidden below the surface? Sounds a bit pricey to me. I'm sure some YUPPIEs out there might fork over the cash for this trip, but not me!

A team is going to see if Mount Everest shrank
The suspicion is that Everest might be an inch shorter and so they're going to go to great lengths to remeasure it.

'Killer Mountain' Climbers Presumed Dead
Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you. The problem with that philosophy is that when eaten by bear, your days are over.

Wildrose Peak
Not the most famous peak in the world, but a local favorite.

blackturtle.us: Classic hike. Tremendous views in all directions. Easily one of my favorite hikes. I definitely recommend it to anyone who feels up to climbing over 2000 feet in four miles. The steep parts are actually quite a bit steeper than 500 feet per mile!

Wildrose Peak may not be a world famous peak, but I'd much rather hear about local peaks than peaks in other countries. Not that I am against posts about peaks in other countries, but I like the focus here to be information about things in relatively close proximity to Trona.

What Counts as a Mountain?
The definition is not as clear as you might expect!
