The fight over groundwater rights in the California desert
Implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) will increase the cost of water and impose restrictions which could put some people out of business. How quickly all this happens is paramount since a gradual implementation is easier to deal with than just suddenly trying to do everything all at once.
At the heart of this conflict in the desert is, ironically, the U.S. Navy. The Indian Wells Valley is home to the Navy’s largest single landholding, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, covering 1.1 million acres, larger than Rhode Island. Ridgecrest, the valley’s biggest, is a military town, owing its economy and higher education levels to the presence of this research and development installation.

BoraxBill: As one Bill to another, the water crisis we're in calls for decisive action. Probably the best thing that could happen to this area in general is for two-thirds of the population to just move away. The current situation is not sustainable.

Water woes worsen in the West
The W-key got a lot of work in this title! The thought of the Water Police going around giving tickets for excessive watering is quite stressful!

Ana Has The Receipts On How Corporate Greed Is Causing California’s Historic Drought
Ana gets pretty worked up over water rationing. She's not having it and she uses some naughty language. She's that upset!

Swales for Watershed Health - California Native Dry Shade Garden
Swale is a new word for me, but I like it and I like what it can do for saving water and beautifying a landscape.

Flash floods bury cars and strand tourists in Death Valley
As they say, sometimes when it rains, it pours! Either it's too little or too much, never just the right amount!

Albert Hammond - It Never Rains In Southern California (1973)
This song was written in 1973 and so I guess droughts are nothing new here, but the rain we're getting now is definitely nice!

Here's another version of the song and here's more information about the song:
